Ron Smith Q&A

  1. Interesting observations... so, if you were going to use the video, you'd have to get the questions to those watching the video so they'd feel like they were interacting with the video. That'd be hard to do via another video... good job.

  2. hi chris,

nice observations, especially about powerpoint and texting. when i taught 6th grade, i did teach my students powerpoint, and i thought it was appropriate at that level. it was precisely for that reason that i thought it was not as valuable in high school. i expected my students to 1) already know it, & 2) perform better than other students. as for text messaging, it probably does blur the lines between teacher & student, but in the inner city where i teach, students need all the positive male role models they can get. i fed lots of students on a daily basis, and i even taught a few how to drive. these things were definitely outside of my portfolio as a classroom teacher, but well within my role of one person caring for the needs of another.

finally, thanks for the kind words.

    ron
